malawi:

How many malawis have you managed to stock in the 240 liter tank?

In my 450 liter tank I have got 12 demasoni and 7 yellow labs I think that my tank hold some other fish. what do you think?

Hi to everyone, regarding how much mbuna  can you put in your aquarium. does the rule 1inch per 1 gallon apply to mbuna cause some time ago they told me it doesn't apply. thanks, i have a 240 liters mbuna and peacock tank.

malawi:

Therefore if we assume that your fish grow up to circa 4inches long you will end up having a 1inch per gallon ratio if I am calculating this correctly.

I don't think that it is a problem, the most important thing is to keep adequate water conditions. From my end I think that I will go for some species that stays in the upper part of the tank because the labs and demasoni stay in the middle bottom.

first of all great work on your setup. Its really nice to see such nice DIY setup, keep it up.

I wanted to ask you about the blue background. Is that a sticker in the aquarium? because i need to do one because mine is from outside and its not a sticker because i did it.

Yes it is a plastic attached with a specific glue from the outside bought from a LFS.

Tank Update

Feeding Time

Yellow Lab Dominant Male

Demasoni

This week I Found my first holding Lab, it has been a long time that I observed the dominant male creating some tension in the tank. I decided to place the female into a holding tank so that she can stay in peace and spit the fry naturally (if the eggs are fertilised :/)

It was really difficult to catch her, I had to remove all the rocks and perform a 40% water change. I don't think that she will have a lot of fry because she is just 7cm long.

The other labs have eggspots (smaller and less defined than that of the dominant male) does anyone know whether there is a chance that these can be females?
